Deborah Leigh Midkiff Myers, 60, of Childress, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she enjoyed interpreting for the deaf, and was retired from Kollmorgen with 34 years of service. Deborah was always smiling and enjoying life. She was an avid reader and loved working in her flowers and walking her dogs Cadi and Sara. She was preceded in death by her father, George E. Midkiff, Sr. and a brother, John Keith Midkiff. Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Myers of Childress; her mother and step father, Barbara B. and Harold David Akers of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, George, Jr. (Eddie) and Vickie Midkiff of Radford; and her special friend, Karen Wood of Radford. The family would like to thank all the nurses with Carilion Hospice for their tender care of Deborah. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Gethsemane Baptist Youth group or your local SPCA. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the church.
