Cloria Olita Turman Nester, age 100, of Radford passed away Thursday March 7, 2013 at Wheatland Hills Retirement Center. Born February 27, 1913 she was a daughter of the late Richard M. and Christiana Sutphin Turman. She married Conrad Nester on August 2, 1931 in Buffalo Mt. Presbyterian Church. It was the first wedding in the new Church. She graduated from Buffalo Mountain HS in 1930. She continued her education in 1960 at Radford College and graduated in 1963, at the age of 50, with her BS. She taught First Grade at Belview Elementary School in Montgomery County. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Conrad S. Nester, Sr. and a son-in-law, Lonnie Duncan. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 70 years, and a member of the Young at Heart Club. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Janet Duncan, Radford, and Janell and Don Dobbins, Radford, son and daughter-in-law, Conrad and Diane Nester, Christiansburg, six grandchildren, Connie and Kenny Akers and Kathy and Earl Smith both of Radford, Keith and Melissa Duncan, Mooresville, NC, Chris Dobbins, Leesburg, Ben and Coby Nester, Lempster, NH, and Emily and Brian Bunn, Hermitage, Tenn., 11 great grandchildren, Aaron (Delores) and Ian Akers, Radford, Whitney ( Jeff) Madison Martinsville,Lindsey Smith, Radford, Ashley, Anna, Abbey and Andrew Duncan of Mooresville, NC, Tristan and Rayelle Nester of Lempster, NH, and Lyla Bunn Hermitage, Tenn. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Brian Cochram and Pastor O.D. Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mount Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 624 Sixth Street, Radford, VA 24141. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Charles Judy and his staff, to Wheatland Hills-Radford and their staff and to Good Samaritan Hospice staff for all their care.
