Claudia Marshall Roop, 79, of Radford, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. She was a lifetime member of the Radford Church of Christ. She retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant and spent her free time gardening in her yard where she could grow grass on a rolling ball. She was born in Floyd County the daughter of the late Everett and Meartha Quesenberry Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gerald Roop, her first husband and father of her children, Shirley Wirt, a son, James Wirt and brother, Quinton Marshall. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Charlie Trent of Richmond; her son, Dan Wirt of Floyd; four grandsons, Josh Wirt, Austin, Chaz and Cole Trent; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmon and Myrtle Marshall of Radford and Davis and Rochella Marshall of Floyd; two sisters, Sylvia Minnick of Radford, and Vera Hollandsworth of Floyd; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Richfield Nursing Home for all their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Radford Church of Christ with Mr. John Croft and Mr. Rudolph Shelburne officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home.
