Chrystiline Mathena Hedge, 77, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010. In Chriss own words she was packed up, prayed up and ready to go. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and nurtured everyone. She was the worlds greatest biscuit maker and peace maker, and a beacon of light to those who knew her and met her. She was preceded in death by her husband James Thurman Hedge, a daughter Janie Hedge Brightwell, eight siblings and great grandson Cooper Lee Shaw. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Larry Hollins of Dublin, Ruby and Dewey Thompson of Concord, NC, Rebecca Elmore of New Castle, and Karen Akers of Radford; a son and daughter-in-law James Thurman and Catrina Hedge of Newport; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend Laurie Lytton. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Dublin Church of God with Rev. Michael Collins and Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Hedge family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
