Cherokee Roop Cook, of Radford, retired owner of Cooks Clean Center, Cook Service Cleaners and Cooks Formals, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack W. Cook and her parents Hobart L. Roop and Stella Reynolds Roop. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack W. Cook II and Joanne P. Cook; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia C. Doud and Ralph B. Doud III, Gail Cook DeVilbiss and John Grady DeVilbiss, Becky Mann and Scott Mann, and Barbara Cook Turk and D. Michael Turk; 14 grandchildren, Jacqueline C. Clark and spouse Nick Clark, Christopher and Clinton Cook, Brigham and Evan Doud, Victoria, John and David DeVilbiss, Mark, Michael and Will Mann, and Matthew, Adam and Maggie Turk; three great-grandchildren Aden, Grayson and Lucas Clark; her sister Joyce Roop Testerman of Radford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy R. Cook and Jo Anne Irby Cook, and Dick A. Cook and Frankie H. Cook; and 18 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts to the Unity Christian Church, 400 Tyler Avenue, Radford, VA 24141, the Radford Fire Department, 1500 Wadsworth St., Radford, VA 24141 or the Radford Police Department, 20 Robertson Street, Radford, VA 24141. An outdoor celebration of Cherokee's life will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Nesselrod on the New, located at 7535 Lee Highway, Radford, Va. A time to share our love and memories of Cherokee will begin at 5:45 pm followed by a time for refreshments and visiting with the family.
