Obituary

Charles Preston Osborne, 83, of Dublin, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. He was born October 17, 1929 in Galax the son of the late Roscoe Barron and Dorothy Lucille Cool Osborne. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He served as Deputy Sheriff in Summit County, Ohio, sold real estate, painted houses, worked in the food business and at one time owned a supermarket in Ohio, and owned the New River Valley Sportsman for 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Barron Osborne, and sister, Frances Frost. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth R. Osborne; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Charlie Harris of Dublin, and Sandy and Mark Schronce of Pulaski; granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Patrick Cole of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Donna Osborne of Uniontown, OH, Zack and Edna Osborne of Centerville, GA, and Glenn and Pam Osborne of Rural Hall, NC; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Edwards, and Mary and Layne Burcham, all of Pulaski. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Lester Kennedy officiating and members of VFW Post #776 conducting military rites. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Osborne Family Cemetery in Galax. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. The Osborne family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
