Cecil Clinton Shelton, born March 8, 1931, passed away on the morning of December 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a life long member of the Snowville Community where he touched countless lives with his generosity and kindness of spirit. His entire life was devoted to his family, community and family farm. He is preceded in death by his father Roosevelt Shelton, mother Resha Buckner Shelton, and beloved son Cecil (Clint) Shelton Jr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Altizer Shelton; two daughters, Karen Cox and her husband Jerry, and Patty Phillips and her husband Chipper, all of Snowville; sister Earnestine (Pinky) Dayton and her husband Robert, and nephew Michael Dayton and wife Cathy and family; six grandchildren Kim Cox Griffitts and husband Joe, Amy Cox Aust and husband Bryan, Alan Cox, Emily Smith McGrail and special friend Ken Richardson, Justin Smith and wife Holly, and Ashley Phillips Hill and husband Adam; and six Great Grandchildren. The family would like to express gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown during this difficult time by all our friends and family. We would like to thank Hospice for their generous support and service to our family during this time. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Neil Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
