Bonnie Dean Benson, 75, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011. She was born in Staunton VA the daughter of the late Elwood and Hazel Dean. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and for many years was the owner and operator of The Tax Service in Fairlawn. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bob Benson; four children and their spouses, John and Christine Benson of Christiansburg, and Vickie and Kim Martin, Doug and Cindi Benson and Kimberly and Jeff Irby, all of Radford; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Nathan Crouch of Staunton; brother and sisters-in-law, John and Charlotte Dean of Staunton, and Nancy Dean of Westminster, MD; nine grandchildren, Jessica Taylor and her husband Devin, Michael Benson, Maggie Martin, Josh, Andrew, Ben and Clayton Benson, and Sarah and Robert Irby; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline, Jordan and Laycee. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Central United Methodist Church in Radford with Rev. Mike Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Riner Rescue Squad or the Central UMC Building Fund. The Benson family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
