Billy Gene Spence, 75, of Dugspur, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Spence and his mother, Edith Cox Spence. Survivors include his wife, Sharron Spence; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Thomas Cooney of Radford; grandsons, Nicholas and Aidan Cooney; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Robert Warner of Vinton; niece and her husband Cara and Joe Sammons and their sons, Adam and Cameron, all of Vinton; and many close friends. Gene was a United States Army Veteran, a construction superintendent for commercial projects for more than 25 years and was retired from the Town of Wytheville. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. The family will then receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
