Betty Manns Casey, 76, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at her home in New River. She was a graduate of Christiansburg Institute. She was retired from Radford Army Ammunitions Plant where she worked for 33 years, and a long time member of First Missionary Baptist Church in New River. She was a loving Mother, Sister and Nana. She had a special caring love for her grandchildren. She was born in New River the daughter of the late James Garfield, Sr. and Hattie Austin Manns. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Casey, and siblings, James G. Manns, Jr., Christine M. Hopkins, Lillian Valentine and Andrew J. Manns. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Ava M. Pope, and Natalie M. (Tim) Taylor, all of Greensboro, N.C., and Karen Lashal Casey of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor of Greensboro, N.C., and Aaliyah Webb and Andrewus Casey, both of Lynchburg; special friend, Edward Lewis of Christiansburg; sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Casey, Flossie Brown, Nenzerine Lewis, Charles (Caroline) Manns and John H. Manns, all of New River; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the First Missionary Baptist Church in New River with Rev. Montie Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. The Casey family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
