Barrie Lee Hanson, 67, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015. He was a history buff, especially of WWI and WWII. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, Fairlawn Chapter. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Richard Hanson. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Watson Hanson; his mother, Nancy Rose Spahr of Bowie, Md.; sisters, Nancy Lee Wallace of Bowie, Md. and Donna May Hanson of Ark.; daughters, Diana Haviland of N.Y. and Brittany Banian of N.C.; son, Barrie Lee Benton of Va. Beach; 9 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Services were private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his mother's honor.
