Alvis Jackson (Jack) Newcomb, Jr., 68, of Radford, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Radford and former mail carrier. Jack had a long time passion for Virginia Tech Football. GO HOKIES!! He was preceded in death by his parents Alvis Jackson, Sr. and Rachel May Newcomb, and two sisters Diane N. Grayson and Linda N. Sifford. Survivors include his wife Barbara Perkins Newcomb of Radford; daughters and sons-in-law Missy and Jody Akers of Dublin and Niki and Tommy Shepherd of Radford; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Jessica Newcomb of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Karah and Hunter Akers, Taylor and Trace Shepherd, and Allison and Joseph Newcomb; brother-in-law Nelson Sifford of Radford; sister-in-law, Cooper Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm at The Presbyterian Church of Radford with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private at Sunrise Burial Park. The Newcomb family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
