Alfred Eugene "Gene" Eastridge, Jr. born and raised in Danville, passed away quietly at his home in Dublin on Friday, April 12, 2013. Gene graduated from Averett College in 1969, worked as a teacher, realtor, salesman and art broker, and retired from Echostar in 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred Eugene Eastridge and Ruth Thomas Hawkins. He is survived by his wife Shelly Price Eastridge, two daughters, Rachael Sweeney and Anna Sundstrom, both of Richmond, stepchildren, Jessica Walker and Gabriel Figueroa, both of Dublin, and six grandchildren, Luciano Mirra, Braden Sweeney, Shannon Sweeney, Casjmere Figueroa, Kiarra Walker and Tilo Walker. Family and friends will gather to share memories of Papa Gene on Sunday, April 14, 2014 from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
