Ada Blanche Harless Skeens, of Bluffton, SC, and formerly Radford, VA, passed away on October 29, 2007. Mrs. Skeens was born in Waiteville, WV, on November 18, 1918. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1936 and went to work at Celenese in Narrows, VA. There she met and, on June 23 1943, married Richard Ward Skeens of Narrows, VA. They settled in Radford in 1951 and raised their family there. Mrs. Skeens was active in her childrens schools as well as her church. She retired from Radford City Schools in 1983 and enjoyed traveling around the country visiting her children and grandchildren. Mr. Skeens preceded his wife in death. She is survived by four children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her children and their spouses are Patricia Skeens, Tampa, FL; Barbara Skeens, Los Angeles, CA; David and wife, Karen, of Manassas, VA; and Jodi Skeens Grubb and husband, Roger, of Bluffton, SC. Grandchildren include Elizabeth Koontz, Norman, OK; Chad Skeens, Roanoke, VA; Ashley and Jeremy Grubb, Bluffton, SC; Felicity Metzler, Tampa, FL; and Jake Metzler, Muncie, IN. Mrs. Skeens has two living sisters, Margalene Harless and Thelma Elmore, both of New Castle, VA; and a brother, Charlie Harless, Radford, Va. Friends and family are invited to call at Mullins Funeral Home, Radford, VA, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2007. The funeral will be held at Radford Christian Church on Saturday, November 3, 2:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
